Stock¶
Odoo can send the stock of your products to your Shopify locations, and copy the Shopify stock into Odoo once, before it starts sending.
Store locations¶
Shopify sells and ships from locations: your warehouses and shops, and the locations of fulfillment apps. Odoo reads them with Fetch Store Locations (in Configuration › Stock or Orders › Deliveries) and lists them in Shopify › Configuration › Store Locations.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Order Warehouse | Warehouse of the Odoo delivery of the order lines this location fulfills, third-party locations too. |
| Managed in Odoo | On: deliveries validated in Odoo are sent to Shopify as shipments. Off (fulfillment app, third-party warehouse): the location ships on Shopify itself; Odoo validates its deliveries when Shopify ships them and never sends them back. |
| Export Stock | Odoo sends the stock of the Stock From warehouses to this location. Only for locations managed in Odoo. |
| Stock From | Warehouses whose stock is added up and sent to this location. A warehouse can feed only one location of a store. |
| Stock Quantity | Free (on hand minus reserved), On Hand (all units) or Forecasted (on hand plus incoming minus outgoing). |
| Import Stock To | Warehouse that receives this location's stock with Import Stock. Empty: the Order Warehouse. |
A yellow box warns when the settings of a location do not fit together; each location says what is wrong.
Order lines and locations
Each order line is delivered from the Order Warehouse of the Shopify location the order was assigned to. An order split over two locations gives two deliveries, from two warehouses.
Import Stock (once)¶
Copies the Shopify stock into Odoo, usually once, before Odoo starts sending stock (Odoo then replaces the Shopify quantities).
- Set Import Stock To on the store locations (empty: their Order Warehouse).
- Perform Operation › Import Stock.
- Choose the Store Locations (empty: all active ones) and the Import Mode:
- To Review: the Shopify quantities become counted quantities; check and apply them in Inventory › Physical Inventory.
- Apply Now: the stock is changed at once.
- Click Execute.
Products with lots or serial numbers, and kits, are skipped (see the log).
Export Stock¶
- In Configuration › Stock, switch on Export Stock.
- In Store Locations, switch on Export Stock for each location that receives stock, and choose its Stock From warehouses and Stock Quantity.
- In Schedulers, switch on Prepare Stock Export and Export Stock: they are added for you, switched off.
Odoo replaces the Shopify quantities
With Export Stock on, the Shopify On hand of each location becomes what Odoo computes. If Shopify has the right numbers today and Odoo does not, run Import Stock first.
How it works:
| Step | What it does |
|---|---|
| Prepare Stock Export | Checks the products whose stock changed in Odoo since its last run, and lists in Store Stock the quantities Shopify does not have yet. Tick All Products (Perform Operation) to check every product, e.g. after changing the warehouses of a location. |
| Export Stock | Sends the listed quantities as Shopify On hand of each location. Shopify takes its own open orders off itself. |
Shopify › Products › Store Stock shows, per product and location, To Store (what Odoo computed), On Store (what Shopify confirmed) and the Status: To Send, Sending, Synced or Failed. A quantity sent without answer is checked on Shopify at the next run before it is sent again.
Stock rules per product¶
On a layer variant (or several, with Actions ⚙ › Set Stock Settings):
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Track Inventory | Shopify tracks the stock of the variant and Odoo sends it. |
| Stock Export Rule | Actual Qty, Fixed Quantity Cap (never more than the Rule Value) or Percentage of Available Stock. |
