Import products

Import Products

  1. Open the store (or its card on the Dashboard) and click Perform Operation.
  2. Choose Import Products.
  3. Choose the period: From Date and To Date, and Date Based On: Updated Date takes the products created or changed in the period, Created Date only those created in it.
  4. Click Execute.

What Odoo does with each Shopify product:

Case Result
New product, with a status ticked in Product Statuses to Import Each variant looks for its Odoo product by SKU or barcode (Match Product By).
Variant found in Odoo It is linked. With Auto Update Product on, the values ticked Update on Import in Field Mappings are updated.
Variant not found With Auto Import Product on, the product is created. Off: it is reported in the sync job and skipped.
Product already in the store layer Its changes are applied, a new status too, whatever the statuses ticked.
Product waiting to be sent to Shopify (Needs Update) Not overwritten: your Odoo changes win.

First import

Import a short period first (e.g. the last week) and check the products, variants, attributes and categories created. Then import everything with a From Date before your store opened.

Large imports

When an import finds more products than Large Import From (Product Settings, default 1,000), Shopify prepares the list in the background and Odoo imports it in batches. Follow it in Bulk Imports.

Import Specific Product

Brings one Shopify product into Odoo at once, with the same rules as Import Products.

  1. In Shopify admin, open the product: its ID is the number at the end of the address (…/products/8012345678901).
  2. In Odoo, Perform Operation › Import Specific Product, paste the ID and click Execute.

If the product was deleted on Shopify, it is removed from the store layer; the Odoo product stays.

Map Products from File

Links Odoo products to Shopify products with a CSV or Excel file, when SKUs or barcodes do not match between Odoo and Shopify, or to link many products at once.

  1. Perform Operation › Map Products from File.
  2. Click Download Template, fill one row per variant and save the file.
  3. Upload it in File.
  4. Sync These Products:
    • Off (most common): the products are only linked (Mapping Only), so orders find them. They are never exported or updated.
    • On: they are added for export and update, with all their variants and the full checks.
  5. Click Execute. The result of every row is shown in the sync job.

Keep products up to date automatically

Way How
Webhooks Switch on Product Created, Product Updated and Product Deleted and click Register Webhooks: Shopify tells Odoo about each change at once. See Webhooks.
Scheduler Add Import Products in Schedulers and switch it on: each run reads what changed since the last one. See Schedulers.
