Operations

Every synchronization is an operation. You run an operation in one of three ways:

Way When Where
By hand Once, now Perform Operation on the store or its dashboard card
Scheduler Regularly, in the background Configuration › Schedulers (Schedulers)
Webhook As soon as something changes on Shopify Configuration › Webhooks (Webhooks)

Perform Operation

  1. Open the store (or its card on the Dashboard) and click Perform Operation.
  2. Choose the Operation. A blue box explains what it does.
  3. Fill in what it asks: a period, an ID, a file or store locations.
  4. Click Execute.

The operation creates a sync job, processed in the background. Follow it in Shopify › Activity › Sync Jobs (Monitoring).

The setup must be complete

Operations stop with a message while the store's setup checklist is not complete, or while the store is archived.

  • Export to Store and Update on Store: from the store layer (Shopify › Products › Product Templates).

See Send products to Shopify.

Periods

Imports ask for From Date and To Date, and Date Based On:

  • Updated Date: records created or changed in the period (to catch up on changes);
  • Created Date: only records created in the period.

Which way to choose

Use webhooks for orders, so they arrive within minutes, and keep a daily Import Orders scheduler as a safety net. Products and customers change less often: a scheduler every few hours, or webhooks, is enough.
