Products

Products move both ways between Shopify and Odoo:

  • Shopify → Odoo: Import Products reads the Shopify products, finds each variant's Odoo product by SKU or barcode and creates the ones Odoo does not have.
  • Odoo → Shopify: Add to Store Layer, then Export to Store creates Odoo products on Shopify; Update on Store sends later changes.

The store layer

Between Shopify and Odoo sits the store layer: one record per Shopify product and per variant, under Shopify › Products › Product Templates and Product Variants. Each record keeps:

  • the Shopify IDs, SKU and barcode of the product and its variants;
  • the link to the Odoo product and variant;
  • the Shopify-only values: store title and description, sales channels, published or draft, stock rules.

Why a layer

The same Odoo product can be sold in several stores, each with its own title, price list, sales channels and Shopify IDs. The layer keeps those store values apart, so one Odoo product is never duplicated per store, and an order line always finds its product through the layer, even when the SKU changed on Shopify.
